Amp up your breakfast by adding classic apple pie flavors and spices to your oatmeal! This is a wonderful recipe to enjoy during the fall months when apples are in season!
1 tbsp | butter |
---|---|
1 | apple, cored and diced |
1 tbsp | brown sugar |
1 cup | old-fashioned rolled oats (gluten-free) |
2 cups | apples cider (non-alcoholic) |
1 tsp | apple pie spice |
1/4 cup | chopped toasted walnuts |
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the apple and brown sugar and cook, stirring often, until the apples begin to soften, about 5 minutes. Add the oats, apple cider, and apple pie spice. Stir and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and cook, stirring occasionally, until most of the liquid has been absorbed, for about 5 minutes.
Serve immediately topped with the walnuts.
